Our Staff

We created APiC to work in partnership with children, young people, and everyone who cares about making change with them.

Our Co-directors, Jenny and Jamie, are the ones that lead our projects. They work together as much as possible, and enjoy collaborating. Read more below about who they are and what they bring to APiC.

Dr Jenny Wood

Co-Director, Policy & Research

Jenny has been a driving force behind the initiation and development of APiC since 2017, bringing considerable energy and passion to the topics APiC investigates. She has three degrees in urban and regional planning, including a PhD on children’s human rights and the Scottish town planning system.

Since starting APiC, Jenny has successfully run several action research projects working collaboratively with children and young people, bringing about on-the-ground change, and understanding social and economic systems. She is a leading expert in children’s human rights and the built environment and also has a strong track record in the fields of social policy, homelessness and assisting people experiencing severe and multiple disadvantage.

Jenny has spoken at a wide range of national and international events on child-friendly planning, including in South Korea, and successfully advocated for changes to the Planning (Scotland) Act 2019 to include more provisions for child-friendly planning.
